I wonder how often, in this present culture people “bide their time” or “put up” with situations that are not to our liking. It’s good to desire change but oh, how difficult it is to slog along during times of great dissatisfaction. Imagine the Kommandant’s feelings when he ponders his circumstance; “I’m under coercive limitations, I have wide powers here in France, but for myself I have none.”
